Description of Flora of Zakynthos
There is an abundance of beautiful flowers, in varied hues and with wonderful fragrances on Zante. Among the most common are Bougainvillea and roses.
Along with flowers the island is rich in other types of flora such as herbs (especially basil, dill, parsley and rosemary) and numerous varieties of trees: figs, lemons, oranges, almonds, walnuts, olives, pomegranates and grapes. The soil here is of good quality, rich in nutrients so that most crops and plants will grow with ease.
In the summer the locals enjoy eating home grown tomatoes, courgettes, aubergines, beans, peppers, sweet corn, melons and watermelons.
